Rocket League cross-play is a thing now

Sony has announced that it will finally let PS4 owners play Rocket League against gamers on Xbox, Switch, and PC. Having previously blocked Rocket League cross-play, except between PS4 and PC, developers said that they were simply waiting on Sony to give the go-ahead.

Eventually, Sony gave in to the demand, first on Fortnite and now Rocket League, thanks in part to a policy change last year.

Rocket League developer Psyonix is enabling cross-play by default, but just to make sure that it is, head to the “Main Menu,” select “Options” and then make sure the “Cross-Platform Play” box is checked in the “Gameplay” tab.

“Private Matches” can be created to play with friends until the cross-platform parties release by selecting “Play” from the “Main Menu,” then “Private Match,” followed by “Create” or “Join Private Match”.
