Stima DT Sacco Society Limited, one of Kenya’s leading deposit-taking cooperative societies and the first Sacco licensed by SASRA, is accelerating its digital transformation journey with WSO2. By leveraging WSO2 API Manager, the organization has strengthened its ability to securely connect with banks, fintechs, and other financial service providers while accelerating the rollout of innovative digital financial services.

Serving members through a broad portfolio that includes savings and deposit accounts, credit facilities, mortgages, investments, insurance, diaspora banking, and digital banking channels, Stima Sacco has consistently prioritized technology-driven innovation. However, as the organization expanded its ecosystem of partners and digital services, managing traditional point-to-point VPN integrations became increasingly complex, slow, and difficult to scale securely.

“WSO2 presents to us the platform with which we can bring digital transformation at speed. We are able to scale up our applications, reuse code, and bring more solutions to market,” said Samuel Kahura Wacira, ICT Manager at Stima Sacco.

Using WSO2 API Manager, Stima Sacco established a modern interoperable integration platform connecting its core banking systems, ERP, digital channels, and external partners. The institution now supports more than 25 integration points and enables seamless connectivity with over 15 external service providers supporting mobile money, ATM services, cheque processing, interbank transfers, diaspora remittances, and insurance offerings.

The API-led approach has enabled Stima Sacco to standardize services, rapidly develop reusable APIs, streamline partner onboarding, and improve monitoring and reporting capabilities. The organization also benefited from close collaboration with WSO2’s technical teams throughout implementation.

As a result, Stima Sacco has accelerated the launch of new digital financial products, strengthened security and interoperability across its ecosystem, and enhanced member experiences through smoother digital interactions. Looking ahead, the organization is preparing for the next phase of innovation with plans to adopt microservices architectures, WSO2 Integrator, analytics capabilities, and AI-driven observability solutions.
