MTN Zambia launches two new 3G and 4G smartphones

MTN Zambia has announced the launch of two affordable 3G and 4G smartphones, dubbed Dandy and Rio, aimed at bridging the digital divide and deepen digital inclusion in the country.


Bart Hofker, the network provider’s CEO, says “the Dandy and Rio smartphones we are introducing today will provide our customers with an easy and convenient way to use Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, stream YouTube videos, send emails and access to all applications available on the Android Play Store”.

Hofker also said the introduction of these new products on the Zambian market will add value to the business environment in the country and improve the quality of life for all Zambians.

“Apart from providing our customers with a superior customer experience at an amazingly low price, the Dandy and Rio smartphones are tools that we are using to bridge the digital divide in our society by deepening digital inclusion. Through the affordability of these new smartphones, we ensure that the ordinary Zambian can have access to digital services, and no one will be left behind on this journey of digital transformation.”

MTN Zambia CMO says, “the Dandy and Rio smartphones operate on a standard Android Operating System and can support all android applications including Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, Gmail, Google Maps and comes with a Google assistant pre-installed. Our customers can also enjoy our MTN applications including My MTN App, Ayoba and Music Time. The phones are available in all MTN Service Centers and Connect stores countrywide and the devices will come with a 500MB complimentary data bundle upon purchase. The Rio is a 3G device and will cost K299 while the Dandy is a 4G device and will cost only K599”.
