Samsung has announced a free firmware upgrade for the Galaxy A5/A7 (2017 models), S7 and S7 Edge devices.

Samsung South Africa has announced a free firmware upgrade, to assist customers with specific Samsung devices, namely the Galaxy A5/A7 (2017 models), S7 and S7 Edge devices. Customers who visit participating Samsung Service Centres for the upgrade will save up to 5GB of data on the device software update and also receive a free installation and activation of Samsung Pay. The free upgrade offer will run from 23 May to 6 June 2019.

The upgrade process is as follows:


• Customers are to visit a participating Samsung Service Centres from 23 May 2019 and request their free upgrade.
• The Service Centre will confirm that the device is a Galaxy A5/A7 (2017), S7 or S7 Edge device (South African models only) and then complete their upgrade.
• The support staff will then perform the free installation and activation of the Samsung Pay app.

Samsung Pay is continuing to blaze new trails with mobile payments in South Africa and this free installation will allow more Samsung users to make full use of its convenience. This secure and simple digital wallet instantly gives Samsung Pay supported devices the functionality of a bank and loyalty card, which can be used almost anywhere* you can swipe, insert or tap a payment card.
