Craig Holmes, the VP for the Partner Ecosystems at IBM South Africa.

The IBM South Africa Leadership team welcomed the first co-hort of the IBM Tech scale Programme. The programme which will be delivered by YIEDI (Youth, Innovation Entrepreneurship Design Institute) over the next 5 months have identified seven Technology Businesses that will be part of this growth programme. The companies range from focusing on software as a service to Artificial Intelligence and Bitcoin.

The event was held at Workshop 17 in Sandton which will also be home to the IBM Techscale candidates for the next 5 months. The IBM South Africa COO, Ziaad Suleman expressed his gratitude to YIEDI for identifying some great technology businesses and expressed his commitment to engaging closely with these businesses as they grow further into their respective areas.

In addition Craig Holmes, the VP for the Partner Ecosystems at IBM South Africa offered to make as many IBM resources available to the businesses and encouraged them to partner and grow with IBM.

Jayshree Naidoo, the CEO of YIEDI expressed her admiration for the candidates that have been selected and the IBM leadership team “I am extremely proud of how the IBM Techscale candidates have embraced this opportunity to learn and grow with us. Over the past few weeks we have already seen them grow and learn from some of the mentors we identified. I am really impressed with the commitment demonstrated by the IBM leadership team.

They made the launch event extremely beneficial for all the candidates selected by preparing a personal message for them and giving them insights into the opportunities available and more on IBM’s strategy. For many entrepreneurs one of the major barriers to success is access to markets and having a giant like IBM on the side of these businesses will give them the edge to succeed and grow. We are looking forward to an exciting journey which will include, incubation, mentoring, development and possible funding. Some candidates have already been approached to assist with deliverables on the day of the launch.”
