Vodafone Ghana has reached an agreement with the National Communications Authority (NCA) to rollout 4G for mobile services in Ghana in the second quarter of 2019.

Following a successful financial negotiation with the NCA which cost around US$30million, Vodafone Ghana can now operate an LTE 4G spectrum frequency to boost user experience for its subscribers.

Yolanda Cuba, Chief Executive of Vodafone Ghana, said , “We are excited that after three years of persistent constructive engagement with the regulator and policymakers, we now have the opportunity to operate an LTE 4G licence in Ghana. We are happy that our customers will finally experience faster data speed. Vodafone is committed to continuously work with the regulator to promote digital inclusion in the country, for which the 4G spectrum will play a critical role. It will also enable Vodafone to work with government on its agenda of digitising Ghana’s economy.”

According to Vodafone, the access to 4G will now contribute to enhance customer experience in Ghana’s digital revolution. The operator will start an ongoing technical process within the coming weeks to set up its infrastructure in order to offer 4G to its subscribers as soon as possible. Recently, the Vodafone Group has celebrated a decade of existence in Ghana’s telecoms industry.
