Takealot’s website and mobile app has been taking strain this Black Friday. The online retailer is facing technical issues for the second year in a row during its Takealot Blue Dot Sale.
After opening its sale just after midnight, on 23 November 2018, the online retailer began to face problems – with customers complaining via social media that they were having difficulty completing orders with their credit cards.
The online retailer reached out to consumers on social media platform Twitter and issued the following statement.
Some customers are currently experiencing difficulty completing payment using credit cards. We’ve notified our payment partner and they’re working at restoring their services. Please try one of our alternative payment options like Instant EFT in the meantime.

While the issues has been resolved, for now, Downdetector.co.za has been used by consumers to report a number of errors. According to the website, the most reported issues were that 46 percent of customers could not make payments, 26 percent could not login, and a further 26 percent had general problems with the website.
The Credit Card and Masterpass payment options have been reactivated on our platforms. Please feel free to use your credit card or any of our other payment options, like Instant EFT to complete your purchase. Thank you.

This, as stated above, is the second time in a row Takealot has faced Black Friday issues with last year seeing the entire website crashing.
