Last night, around 9 PM local time, NASA’s InSight lander touched down on the surface of Mars to commence a two-year long research mission into the composition of the planet’s core and the effects of seismic activity. Here’s a look at some of the best tweets about the #MarsLanding.

Mission control was overjoyed upon the confirmation that the landing was successful.

The InSight even took the first picture of its new home for the next two years.

NYT Science used augmented reality to explain how the InSight will be listening for marsquakes and studying the planet’s structure.

Now the InSight will recharge with its solar panels before it starts to drill down into the planet’s surface to start gathering valuable scientific data on Mars’ structure.

All in all, it was a fantastic way to end a Monday.
