In a South African first, Synthesis Software Technologies (a wholly owned subsidiary of JSE listed Capital Appreciation) has been awarded Amazon Web Services (AWS) DevOps Competency status. This is the fintech company’s second AWS Competency, following their Financial Services Competency achievement in August 2018.
Achieving an audited AWS competence requires the satisfaction of a stringent set of criteria, including audited case studies, proven thought leadership, and an advanced set of qualifications.
These qualifications follow Synthesis’ achievement of AWS Advanced Consulting Partner status in 2017, in another first for the African and Middle East regions.
AWS, an Amazon.com company, is the world’s pre-eminent cloud-services provider, and is rapidly scaling up capacity in South Africa; a strategy that is expected to benefit businesses in both South Africa and the continent.
Synthesis’ Head of Cloud Consulting, Darryl Govender, was elated by the team’s achievement: “The DevOps approach, which is strongly enabled by the AWS platform and their abundant developer tools, is a catalyst to providing business value to our clients by ensuring improved quality, more stringent compliance and a shorter time to market. Usually, there is a trade-off between speed and quality: DevOps, built on top of the Agile approach we’re known for, allows for substantial increases in both speed and quality. It’s a game-changer, and it’s bringing needed technological transformation to the South African market.”
“In combination, our Financial Services and DevOps competencies demonstrate our unrivaled ability to provide innovative, best-in-class solutions to the South African and African region financial services market,” said Michael Shapiro, Synthesis’ Managing Director.
“The combination perfectly encapsulates Synthesis’ unique ability to help customers transition from on-premises and legacy IT to the new world of DevOps cloud agility. I’m enormously proud of our team and look forward to many more future Synthesis achievements and accolades.”
