The Da Vinci TT100 Business Innovation Awards 2017 took place at the Country Club in Johannesburg, South Africa. The awards have become the country’s foremost business awards programme. Da Vinci’s TT100 Awards programme recognises South Africa’s finest role models who demonstrated excellence in the management of technology, innovation, people, and systems.
TT100 uses a unique adjudication process based on Da Vinci Institute’s trademarked TIPS framework. The management of technology which is all about the ‘tools’ and metrics organisations use to gain a competitive advantage; the management of innovation looks at how an organisation stimulates and capitalises on the ideation process to develop an innovative product or service which has either commercial or social value; the management of people which is about the human technology interface which embraces both the employee and the end user; and the management of systems which is the process of synthesis, where systemic integration of all organisational activities and performance is used to solve unique problems, and where hyper-competitive redesign of the landscape occurs.
The TT100 Awards are open to businesses of all sizes. State-owned enterprises were also invited to participate.
The Minister of Science and Technology, Naledi Pandor was a keynote speaker. She gave insight on what the department is doing to assist technology start-ups and encouraged the entrepreneurs to utilise the technology support hub launched by the department.
