Kenyans who use the Safaricom network were not able to make calls, send messages and use the internet after the telecoms company suffered a network outage that affected the entire country. Customers were not able to send or receive calls or text messages for almost two hours. Data and M-Pesa services were also interrupted.
The mobile service provider released a statement warning users of the network outage.
According to a report by Reuters, Safaricom’s outage problem began at 9.30 am on Monday and the network has since been restored. The outage affected over 27 million Safaricom customers and millions more connected through the M-Pesa platform including KCB MPesa and CBA’s MShwari.
The company, in a statement said the Data, SMS, M-Pesa and Enterprise services will be available intermittently until the issue is fully resolved.
