Huawei recently announced that its latest charging system, part of BES (Business Enablement System) has been launched in South Africa. On the 22nd Nov 2015, Huawei successfully upgraded Vodacom, South Africa’s CCS phase2 data service from OCS3.3 to OCS5.5, which is a basic component of Huawei’s BES solution.
This is the first commercial launch of a BES component, according to Huawei, in South Africa or even within the Sub-Saharan Africa region. The project has successfully migrated 4 million subscribers with no negative impact to subscriber experience, which the Network has praised highly.
Huawei BES (Business Enabling System) is the next-generation Business Support System (BSS) designed to assist telecom carriers in their transformation to digital operations. It supports various business models such as B2C, B2B, B2B2C, C2C and enables easy partner aggregation, allowing operators to build an open Eco-system and provide a R.O.A.D.S experience to their customers.
Huawei first introduced the BES solution at AfricaCom on Nov 16 resulting in many attendees and operators showing interest and excitement about the capabilities of the solution.
