IT leaders will convene at the Michelangelo Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg for the next Innovation Dinner, which will be held on the 25th of November 2015 – and address the theme “Internet of Things: Real World Applications.”
This Innovation Dinner, which is sponsored by Business Connexion and Telkom, will address the many opportunities presented by the evolution of IoT and the challenges ecosystem players need to prepare for in order to maximise the benefits promised by the internet of things.

Tony joined Telkom Business in January 2014 as Managing Executive: Solutions Business with focus on digitalisation and taking new innovative Enterprise ICT solutions to market
Prior to joining Telkom, Tony was Executive: Product and Marketing at Gijima where he was responsible for the transformation of Product Sales, Sales Operations, and Marketing organisations, and executing go-to-market strategies for new enterprise business offerings in particular, Mobility and Cloud Computing. Tony built and lead the team that delivered Africa’s 1st Mobile IT platform – built by Africans for Africa.
Tony De Sousa is South African and spent 18 years abroad in Europe and US where he held VP Sales roles at a number of multinational ICT companies. Last 12 years spent with software start-ups taking disruptive technologies to market.
Mathew Blewitt: Chief Investment Officer – Business Connexion
Matthew started by consulting to Business Connexion on the formulation and initiation of the revitalisation programme, as a member of the Programme-1 team for a year prior to re-joining the group in September 2008.
He re-joined the company in an executive capacity with specific responsibility and accountability for the company’s revitalisation programme. Matthew is now the BCX Chief Investment Officer responsible for Mergers & Acquisitions, Marketing as well as Special Projects.
Matthew was a founder of Seattle Solutions, a focused Microsoft Solution Provider, which merged with Business Connection to form Business Connexion. He held the portfolio of Chief Operations Officer where he led the integration process of Business Connexion and Comparex Africa in 2004 until the beginning of 2006.
Valter Adao: Lead Director & Innovation Leader – Deloitte Digital
Valter leads Deloitte Digital in Africa and is the firm’s Innovation leader in the same region. As the former leader and founding Director of Monitor Deloitte in Africa, Valter brings Strategy and Innovation capabilities and thinking into Deloitte Digital which is the intersect of Strategic and Innovation thinking, Emerging and Exponential Technologies and Creative Design. Deloitte Digital guides organisations to understand, and embrace the emerging exponential and disruptive technologies they face, helping them move beyond potential disruption towards creating new opportunities for relevance, growth and expansion.
Valter is a corporate entrepreneur with extensive experience in building shareholder value, by working with clients in identifying high value, innovative opportunities, and rapidly commercialising them into viable businesses. He is incubated businesses in a variety of industries, including, Technology Media and Telecoms (TMT), Energy, Resources, Financial Services, and Healthcare.
Prashil Gareeb: Head of Product Portfolio Management – FastNet
Swiftnet, trading as FastNet, has 21 years of experience in M2M, starting with POS connectivity, and innovating over the years into several portfolios, namely, wireless connectivity services, Wi-Fi enabled digital solutions and various IoT applications across several sectors.
Prashil is the head of product portfolio management at Swiftnet, including the company’s marketing function. He was responsible for the launch and growth of the dedicated business arm of Telkom Internet, and around this has served several strategy and technology roles with Telkom Group. Qualifications: Prashil has an MSc in Telecoms Engineering, and a Masters in Business Leadership.
Alistair Petersen Director Growth Consulting: Frost & Sullivan Africa
Alistair Petersen is the Director for Growth Consulting at Frost & Sullivan Africa and leads the Digital Transformation practice.
Alistair has significant experience in bringing digital to life in our customers’ businesses, consulting on digitisation and digitalisation. IoT is a core component of how digital transformation is being executed today and how it will grow in impact in future. Alistair has a Business Science Honours degree from UCT.
