Huawei officially launched its latest device in South Africa, the Huawei Mate S. According to the company, the Mate S has been marked as the flagship device for the Mate series.
When taking a closer look at the Huawei Mate S, we found that the devices comes standard with a 5.5” AMOLED FHD display – which is cased in a full metal shell with side edges of only 2.6mm and an ergonomically crafted curved surface to ensure it cushions itself seamlessly into the palm of the consumers hand.
Additionally, the Mate S comes with a 13MP rear-facing camera with a four colour RGBW image sensor, optical image stabilisers, dual colour temperature LED flashlights and independent image signal processor camera units. The 8MP front-facing camera has soft front lights and is easily controlled by the fingerprint sense technology.
According to the company: “The Mate S has found a way to utilise our strongest sense, that of touch, to take functionality and creativity to the next level. The phone’s key feature is the Force Touch Technology, which allows you to easily facilitate different actions like zooming in when taking a photo or launching an app simply by applying a different level of pressure to the screen. Touch is taken further with the introduction of Knuckle Sense 2.0, introduced in the Huawei P8 and now even better. Use Knuckle Sense to create your own original short codes on the screen. Draw a letter and it correlates to a corresponding action. Drawing a c will open the camera while an e will open your Internet browser.”
At the launch Huawei also revealed that Fingerprint 2.0 is the upgraded version of the offering originally found in the Mate 7. According to Huawei: “This single tap unlock functionality is now faster, more sensitive and brags self-learning functions which improves recognition by 100%. Fingerprint 2.0 not only unlocks your phone or secures banking payments but also now lets you control notifications, scroll through photos and even answer calls or take selfies.”
Available in Dual SIM or Dual 4G LTE, the Mate S is nestled in the palm of your hand ensuring it becomes an extension of you in every way. Features such as smart recording and wireless printing through Mopria General Protocol allow the Mate S to become more than just hand candy. Its 2 hours of talk time after a 10-minute charge also means you’ll never be stood up.
“The Mate S is designed for the stylish and for the invincible. It is the ideal companion that will touch your life in such a way that you’ll never know how you got through a day without it.” says Charlene Munilall, General Manager, Huawei Consumer Business Group, South Africa.
