
Airtel Kenya has revealed that it has connected seven schools in the Mombasa and Central regions to the internet. According to Airtel, the aim of the “Internet for Schools” project is to provide internet connectivity to millions of pupils in the country.
Airtel revealed that over 3,600 pupils from the seven schools now join more than 250,000 others across the country. The company has noted that it now has more than 100 schools nationwide benefitting from the project.
Airtel Kenya CEO Adil El Youssefi stated that: “Information and communications technology (ICT) has become a vital part of every child’s education. The power of the internet is invaluable and connectivity has the potential to transform education, inspiring students to improve in their studies and become successful people in life. It’s an investment in our children’s collective future that we believe will yield excellent rewards.”
