The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has insisted that supporters disregard results posted on social media platforms suggesting the All Progressives Congress (APC) had assumed a lead as vote results collation progressed.
According to News 24 Nigeria, PDP spokesman, Olisa Metuh stated that such results reportedly posted by APC were fake. Metuh allegedly stated that the APC in its “desperation” for power aimed to ambush the electoral commission and mislead the unsuspecting public to believe it was taking the lead in the election. According to Metuh: “We therefore alert Nigerians to be on their guard.”
According to INEC, only it is empowered by law to announce the results, and it is an offence for anyone to preempt the Commission in this regard. For the official results of the Nigeria Elections voters are urged to obtain the official results from the INEC, or via credible broadcast media outlets.
