NetherRealm Studios has quite a few suprises up their sleeves for those entering the dark and brutal world of Mortal Kombat X.

Mortal Kombat X is set to launch on 14 April 2015; however, the big question still remains… Who’s playable in the next installment of Mortal Kombat?

If you are a fan of the Mortal Kombat franchise then you will recognise some of the familiar names gracing the Roster as well as notice a few new additions.

To begin things let’s start with some of the unfamiliar characters first.

Cassie Cage
The daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade has been introduced to Mortal Kombat X. Additionally, she is the leader of an elite Special Forces unit.

A member of an insect-like race called the Kytinn, from the island realm of Arnyek, which was merged with Outworld.

Erron Black
A mercenary gunslinger in the service of Kotal Kahn who was respondent with the Black Dragon, until Kano’s betrayal.

A pairing consisting of an armored dwarf-woman and a giant masked brute, who were found wandering the Tarkatan wastelands before being made to serve as new Outworld emperor Kotal Kahn’s personal bodyguards.

Jacqui Briggs
Jax’s daughter and a member of Cassie Cage’s Special Forces unit.

Kotal Kahn
An Aztec-inspired warrior whose realm of Osh-Tekk was merged with Outworld. He was additionally worshipped in Earthrealm and served Mileena before overthrowing her from the Outworld throne for treason.

Kung Jin
Kung Lao’s younger cousin, an archer and member of Cassie Cage’s Special Forces unit.

Takahashi Takeda
Kenshi’s son, and a member of Cassie Cage’s Special Forces unit. He was entrusted by his father to Scorpion, who raised him as an apprentice in the Shirai Ryu clan and taught him how to fight.

Guest appearances
According to the developers, there are a few guest characters have been confirmed. The characters don’t essentially belong in the Mortal Kombat universe; however, NetherRealm Studios has quite a few surprises up their sleeves for those entering the dark and brutal world of Mortal Kombat X.

So, who is making a guest appearance? Well, we currently know that Friday the 13th favourite, Jason Vorhees has made the roster. Additionally, Predator has also made the lineup with Tanya and Tremor also making an appearance.


The Usual Suspect
Mortal Kombat X would not be the same without a host of the original fighters on the cards. Some of the returning fan favourites include Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Ermac, Johnny Cage, Kano, Reptile, Raiden, Mileena, and Kitana. Additionally, Sonya Blade, Jax, Kung Lao, and Liu Kang are also making a return.
