South African Mobile network “Cell C” has been downed by a network glitch, which occurred on Friday 13 March 2015. According to Fin24, Cell C customers have complained that they are currently failing to make calls while using the network.
According to the report, Cell C spokesperson Karin Fourie stated that: “We are experiencing a problem in terms of the call setup. So, if people try and dial out a number it might not go through immediately.”
Fourie further stated that Cell C customers may need try dialing the same number multiple times in order to make a successful call.
According to Fourie, Cell C has notified users, via social media, regarding the downed network. Fourie added that the technical team is in the process of identifying the issue with the network.
Following the initial report, Cell C has stated that it has identified the network issue. The company has revealed the following statement:
“Cell C technicians have identified the problem affecting call set up on the network – traffic management between our two major data centres was affected. A resolution has been put in place and customers should already be seeing an improved experience, full service will be restored shortly.” This is according to Fin24.
