The United Bank for Africa (UBA) has revealed that it has inked a partnership with Vodacom in Nigeria. The partnership will see Vodacom provide data and broadband communications for the bank in an effort to improve services to its customers globally.
According to ThisDayLive, Vodacom has been tasked with seamlessly interconnecting UBA’s offices and ATMs, and deploying financial services across the Group. As a result of the scope and scale of the partnership, UBA has become a Vodafone Global Enterprise Customer, becoming the first financial institution of Nigerian origin to join an elite list of companies such as General Electric (GE), Apple and Microsoft.
Managing Director, Vodacom Business Nigeria, Guy Clarke commended UBA for its role in the continents’ financial landscape.
“Having UBA as a global enterprise customer shows the growth of African companies and the progress in taking their place in the global marketplace. UBA has continuously demonstrated the ability to leverage its capabilities and IT infrastructure to exponentially grow its business across Africa,” he said.
Clarke added that: “UBA will have a dedicated team, consisting of enterprise specialists, who will provide effective business communications solutions with requisite service levels that will enable the bank to have a single view of its communications, differentiate from its peers, and scale up its ability to offer bespoke financial services to customers.”
According to Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of UBA, Phillips Oduoza: “Technology is integral to our operations and we are driven by the need to achieve cost efficiency, operational scale and improved customer service. We thank Vodacom and are determined to take our partnership to the next level,” he stated.
