Mi-Fone, an African Mobile Devices Brand, has launched its latest cost conscious mobile device into South Africa. The device has been dubbed the “mi-FAB 4.5.” The device comes in at R2199; however, the device has also been made available in Nigeria, Ghana as well as other African countries.
According to the company, the device is only available online. The online shopping portal site has partnered with payment gateways Payfast and Mobicred, and offers a nationwide courier service.
Alpesh Patel, mi-Fone CEO and Group CEO of mi-Group International, stated that: “There is no doubt that Africa is the ‘mobile continent’, with the industry expecting mobile internet use to increase 20-fold in the next five years. It is estimated that 20 million South Africans still have no internet access due to high costs of devices. mi-Fone’s success in Africa is largely due to our smartly developed, well priced phones, so I have no doubt that we will be able to impact this market through our online portal, empowering and enabling Africans to access technology directly at very affordable prices and delivering on our tagline of ‘Aspiration ….within Reach’.”
When it comes to specs, the mi-FAB 4.5 runs the Android 4.2 OS. Furthermore, the device features a 1.2 GHz Quad Core CPU as well as supports up to 32GB of storage space. According to the mobile device manufacturer, the device also features a 4.5-inch qHD Display as well as Dual-SIM technology. The mi-FAB 4.5 also features two cameras. The front facing camera comes in at 5MP, and the rear facing camera at 8MP.
The device goes up against other cost conscious devices such as the BlackBerry Z3 and the MTN Steppa Tablet.
