When it comes to technology, most devices manufacturers are looking at creating smaller, more portable devices. Laptops have decreased in size and so have many other devices.
The latest device to receive a much smaller design would be the modern day projector. Acer’s K135 LED Projector is one such device.
However, has Acer developed the portable projector we have all been waiting for? Well, let’s get straight into the review.
Design and build quality
Weighing in at 430 grams, the Acer K135 LED Projector is light enough to carry on either extended business trips or while moving from room to room within the comfort of your own home. When it comes to size, the projector is quite literally pocket sized, which means that it won’t take up too much space in a laptop bag.
The projector is fairly solid in design; however, it can be easily damaged by minor drops or falls. When it comes to accesibility and functionality, users will be pleased to know that all of the projector’s functions are easily accessible. All the functions and ports are easily visible, which makes it extremely easy to use as well as compact in design.
The projector has multiple ports, which include an HDMI input, USB input, as well as a slot for a Micro-SD Card. If you are looking to hook up an external sound system, the projector does come with various accessories in order to do so. Also featured on the projector is an easy to access focus setting, which will assist users in gaining the best picture quality possible.
Entertainment and professional use
While reviewing Acer’s K135 LED Projector, we took the opportunity to test it out in the boardroom as well as hooked it up to Sony’s PlayStation 4 as well as Nintendo’s Wii U console.
When it comes to corporate use, the K135 LED Projector’s bright 500 Lumens Lamp performs rather well. Spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentation can be seen clearly especially when displaying content in High-Definition. While the K135 projector performs well in most environments, much like most projectors, it does however need a semi dark environment in order to showcase its full potential.
When it comes to entertainment, the darker the environment the better. While the projector won’t entirely replace your entire home entertainment centre, it is a fantastic luxury to have… especially when you feel the need to turn your home into your own private cinema.
When it comes to gaming, the K135 performs superbly. At times it can be a bit of a mission to trudge around with a rather large HD TV; however, the K135 is light and compact enough to set-up in just about any room in the house. What I essentially liked about the projector is the fact that it displays most content in High-Definition, which is especially important when it comes to gaming.
During the review process, I played quite a few titles on the PlayStation 4 as well as the Wii U, which included Bayonetta 2, FIFA 15, and Diablo 3. The image quality that device pushes, as mentioned before, is superb. My only real issue with the projector is the fact that it heats up during long-term use; however, it only started doing this after about 6-7 hours of continuous use.
Conclusion:
Acer’s K135 LED Projector is a great device to not only use at the office or on business trips, but also within the privacy of your home for entertainment purposes. Furthermore, the projector features an HDMI port, which will allow you to showcase a variety of content in High-Definition.
While the device is fairly solid in design, it can be prone to damage if mishandled or dropped. While the projector performs rather well with external sound outputs, it does feature a set of built in 2 watt speakers; however, these do not push the best sound, but can be used as a last resort.
Overall, the K135 LED Projector is a great device to use, especially if you are looking at a portable projector that won’t take up too much space.
