Huawei reveals Ascend Mate 7 & Ascend G7

Huawei announced the launch of two new flagship smartphones that are set to hit the African market January/February 2015. The devices were revealed during AfricaCom 2014 at an exclusive event, which was held in Cape Town, South Africa.

According to Huawei the 6-inch Ascend Mate 7 and the 5.5-inch Ascend G7, both offer compelling features which are right on trend for the coming year.

The Ascend Mate 7 has a slim 7,9mm, ergonomically curved design made of an aluminum alloy that weighs in at only 185g.

The standard Ascend Mate 7 single SIM model is offered with 2GB RAM and 16GB of on-board memory in either moonlight silver or obsidian black. The premium version of the device features 3GB RAM with 32GB memory and is a Dual SIM device that is available in amber gold.

The Ascend Mate 7 will be available from early 2015, with the standard version retailing at a recommended price of between R7000-R9000 while pricing for the Dual SIM is still to be announced.

When it comes to the Ascend G7, it’s all about pushing the boundaries. The Ascend G7 LTE Smartphone is the latest addition to Huawei’s Ascend G series. This single SIM handset will also be available early 2015 at the recommended retail price of between R4000 and R5000, according to the company.

According to Huawei, in a market flooded with mid-tier smartphones that have a plastic look and feel and less than desirable features, the Ascend G7 LTE Smartphone stands out with its elegant metallic design. The Ascend G7 features 2GB RAM and up to 32GB of storage space. The G7 also features a Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 processor.
