The Zambia Information and Communication Technology Authority (ZICTA) is calling on the private sector to take the lead in creating demand in ICT, by injecting heavier investments into the sector. The move has been proposed in order to give consumers access to affordable solutions.
ZICTA director general Margaret Mudenda stated that: “There is need to enhance infrastructure development in rural parts of the country.”
According to Zambia’s Daily Mail, Mudenda said a society that has access to ICTs is exposed and contributes to the development of the economy.
“To some extent, infrastructure development in the ICT sector is vital in increasing access among the people in remote areas,” she said.
