The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has revealed that it has finalised arrangements to license two infrastructure companies. The reason behind the move, according to the NCC, is to enhance broadband penetration.
NCC Executive Vice Chairman, Eugene Juwah, stated that: “The two companies would be sited in Lagos and one of the states in the North-Central region.”
Juwah disclosed that the two infrastructure companies were among seven companies to be licensed for the provision of broadband infrastructure in Nigeria. According to Juwah, the NCC engaged consultants and adopted the open access model.
