Econet Wireless is rumoured to launch a new subscription and “pay-as-you-go” TV service called “impidi”. While there is no clear date of when the service will launch, the company is however actively seeking a marketing director.

According to techzim.co.zw, it is not entirely clear yet how the service will work, but it will have a set-top box. Additionally, indications from the advert state that Econet is currently looking to compete with the current pay-per-view TV options on the market.

The job placement advertisement on the Econet Wireless website states that, “the company is looking to support the roll out of a new brand and very quickly establish it in the SA market as a desirable, aspirational and dependable alternative to the more expensive TV options that are currently available.”

Techzim.co.nw also stated that Econet is looking to sell over 150.000 set-top boxes at the time of launch.
