Nigeria: new rules for UK visa applicants
From Lagos, media reports have focused on an announcement by the United Kingdom (UK) of a new online platform for people applying for Visas for travel.
News Agencies have reported that the new system will be effective from 16 December and will require that applicants pay online using US currency.
Rob Fitzpatrick, Press and Public Affairs Officer at the British Embassy in Nigeria, confirmed the new requirements.
Officials have claimed that the new application platform and payment system would ensure a streamlined process and reduce the costs of managing the Visa application process as well as relevant fees.
It is estimated that 150Â 000 Nigerians are issued with Visas to travel to the UK annually.
