As an example, from Nairobi, local media report that one technology company, ESET NOD32 Solutions is using its official blog to disseminate information.

The country’s ICT sector has reportedly voiced its concern to government, calling on authorities to implement legislation to help combat the problem.

ESET NOD32’s Managing Director Geoffrey Ombachi has been quoted as saying that the Company is involved in a campaign to see cyber security policies realised and perpetrators of crimes convicted.

In an interview with Caj News Africa, Ombachi commented, “”We have strategies of joining hands with internet security corporate in a bid to scrap off pirated software from the market. Pirated software has contributed to a lot of security breaches in the country. Microsoft Corporation started that fight in 2011, Adobe got into the fight in 2012, we would like to take the fight to the next level by April 2014.”

The relevance of authentic antivirus programmes and adherence to safety online have been emphasised as part of the education drive.
