According to a statement from MTN Nigeria, the partnership is also an effort to increase online activity and generate purchases via the Internet.

“The partnership will enable online store customers who purchase any internet-enabled phone to receive free internet services for six months,” the company stated.

While Jumia has not yet commented on the new partnership, industry experts have praised the move saying it will boost the economy and deliver easier access to online purchasing. It is also expected to enable more small businesses to contribute to the development of local economies across the West African country.
