The annual BlackBerry Achievement Awards (formerly the Wireless Achievement Awards), celebrates how BlackBerry technology helps to power innovation and brings ideas to life. The Awards were announced at BlackBerry Live in Orlando, Florida on 15th May.

PriceCheck is locally designed in South Africa and gives shoppers access to prices and reviews of around 30 million products in thousands of categories. The app also provides direct access to hundreds of on- and offline stores. A barcode scanner forms part of the app and makes comparing and finding best prices in store very easy.

“We are proud to have won this award after competing with so many great BlackBerry 10 apps from around the world,” says PriceCheck GM, Andre de Wet. “This underlines that South Africa has world-class talent when it comes to mobile software development. We also see it as recognition of the value our app brings to mobile consumers.”

Alexandra Zagury, Managing Director, South & Southern Africa at BlackBerry said: “We are delighted that a South African app won this prestigious award, which is a true example of mobile-first innovation on BlackBerry. Congratulations to the PriceCheck team.”
