Google Kenya is looking to push development of the IT sector in the country and will host an event to promote technology development and application, it said in a statement.

The Internet giant has launched a campaign to “promote innovation and development of local content in key sectors of the country’s economy.”
The tech giant is bringing together over 500 technology leaders from advertising agencies, government, developers, publishers and Swahili language experts to discuss “the role technology will play in Kenya’s future by driving growth and innovation.”
Dubbed “Going Google Africa”, the event is led by Google Enterprise and e-Momentum, a Nairobi-based Google Apps Premier Partner. Workshops will run across five days during the event.
The goal is to boost IT and mobile services in Kenya and increase Internet penetration.
