Now in its second year, Telkom’s mobile arm, 8ta has managed to win two data awards and its mobile broadband customers were the happiest according to a survey done by a local publication.
8ta won the mobile broadband service of the year award late last year and also won the Broadband maverick of the year award. This year also saw My Broadband’s readers vote 8ta’s mobile broadband customers the least likely to look for another service provider.
8ta is proud of these achievements and hopes to keep this momentum going, especially as the demand for mobile data increases, says Amith Maharaj, Telkom Mobile’s Senior Managing Executive.
With 8ta’s infrastructure we hope to bring many firsts to the South African consumer, one such example is the commercial trial of LTE, Maharaj added.
“We may be one of the youngest mobile service providers in this industry, however, we also have some of the most innovative and value added offerings – especially with regard to voice and data, these offers have the potential to not only change the mobile landscape but also to shape it” Maharaj elaborates.
To celebrate its second birthday, 8ta is giving away birthday gifts to some of its lucky subscribers, which include eight Huawei media pads and eight Nokia C2 cell phones. To enter the competition, 8ta subscribers need to check the local Sunday papers and 8ta’s website for details on how to enter. 8ta subscribers also need to be aware that the competition opens on the 14th of October and is only live for that day.
