With almost 20 years of experience in the IT industry, Heymans brings with her extensive knowledge of the IT market. In her new appointment, Heymans plans to increase DCC’s market share of HP consumables, as well as increasing the awareness of the value of using HP original supplies. The role involves the management of DCC’s Supplies business, including stock control, pricing, customer relations, increasing market share, as well as assisting with the planning and executing of marketing activities.

“The Botswana branch was very small when I took over as Branch Manager, and I believe it has grown into a successful venture under my leadership. I am looking forward to being back in South Africa and to working closely with the rest of the HP team.. I enjoy the culture of professionalism that DCC fosters and appreciate being part of an environment where everybody works together and treats each other with respect,” Heymans says.

“My experience as branch manager for DCC Botswana has given me excellent exposure to all areas of the distribution business. My new role as HP Supplies Product Specialist demands a thorough knowledge of the supplies market and products, which my experience in Botswana has prepared me for well. This new role will allow me to focus more on a specialised area of business, and I am looking forward to the challenge,” she adds.

The volume driven HP Supplies portfolio is a highly price sensitive product, and a large part of managing this portfolio is to ensure that DCC remains competitive. Heymans believes that managing stock levels and pricing are of the utmost importance, and she will be working closely with the local HP office to ensure strategy remains up to date. She will also strive to develop and maintain close working relationships with DCC’s customers.

“For me the biggest challenge is the exchange rate as well as low distribution margins. However counterfeit goods remain a problem, and HP has instituted a programme to deal with this specific issue. Part of my role will be to ensure that we communicate and train our customers and end-users on the benefits of using original HP supplies,” says Heymans.

When asked about her plans for her new portfolio, Heymans answers with three words: “Growth, growth, growth!”

“HP is a well known brand name in South Africa, and it enjoys dominant market share. But the IT market is a volatile and vibrant one and there is always room for growth and improvement. I plan to continue to grow in every aspect of this market, while being an asset to both HP and DCC,” she concludes.
