Apple’s new iPad will be launched in South Africa on 27 April, and local distributor Core Group has announced the suggested retail prices for the device.
The new iPad features the Retina Display, which is capable of over 3.1 million pixels on the 9.7-inch Multi-Touch screen. The device is powered by a Dual-core A5X chip with quad-core graphics and has an embedded 5MP iSight camera, capable of 1080p HD video recording.
Core Group suggested that the retail price for the 16 GB be R4 999, the 32 GB model for R5 999 and the 64 GB version for R6 999. The new iPad with Wi-Fi and 4G will be slightly more expensive, with the 16 GB retailing for R6 299, the 32 GB for R7 299 and the 64 GB model for R8 299.
South Africa doesn’t yet have any 4G networks available, but the 4G devices will connect to the currently-available 3G network.
The price are however only suggested retail prices, and “resellers are responsible for determining their own prices for the resale of products. These are suggestions only and the resellers are entirely free to determine the actual prices at which products will be sold,” Core Group wrote on their website.

Add a comment…"I realy think is worth the price although the resellers will put on their own. A job well done to Apple distrbutors." WELL DONE!
Hell YEA!
This is iPad2, it just the resolution and camera that are upgrade here…dnt waste your money.
It also features quad core graphics to drive the improved resolution. The display is the focal point here. It is also the feature that you would interact the most with.
