Something you missed at the iPad launch

Must Read

As hype over the last 24 hours focused on the launch of the third generation iPad, Apple snuck a free tool under the radar allowing you to configure multiple iPads and iPhones simultaneously.

Apple left the application off last night’s agenda in San Francisco, but it is now available from Apple’s Mac Appstore.

“Apple Configurator’ makes it easy for anyone to mass configure and deploy iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch in a school, business, or institution,” reads Apple’s software blurb. According to their website, users can configure up to 30 iOS devices at once.

“It is perfect for the classroom or student lab where devices need to be quickly refreshed and kept up to date with the correct settings, approved policies, apps and data. Apple Configurator can also be used to personalize devices with data and documents for specific users.”

The application is similar to what Apple uses to reset it’s retail showroom devices.
