Pyramid Research, leading IT and communications firm, has called on East African information technology service providers to partner with vendors to boost cloud services. The firm said, in a new report on Thursday, the market could benefit from offering these services.
The report entitled “Global Cloud Computing Market Is Strengthened by Telco Competition,” identified major players in the space, and external forces influencing competition levels.
It urged operators to maximize cloud computing opportunities “to understand the dynamics of the sector and define clear objectives for their cloud strategies”.
Pyramid said the IT industry “must consider what type of cloud platform to deploy and what cloud services to launch”.
The report, published as part of Pyramid Research’s Telecom Insider Report Series, “examines major threats and uncertainties that slow down adoption of cloud computing, particularly in the enterprise sector”.
Telecom Insiders look at trend analysis, industry best practices, market sizing and forecasting, competitor analysis, and case studies.
“Competition in the cloud segment is increasing and new players are entering the marketplace aiming to monetise opportunities related to the proliferation of cloud services,” Ewa Romaniuk-Calkowska, Pyramid analyst, said.
“Those already in the game are moving to form partnerships and strategic alliances to provide clients with integrated end-to-end solutions rather than specific elements or sub-segments of the cloud architecture,” Romaniuk-Callowska added.
