Personal cloud computing is a new technology that harnesses the power of cloud computing for personal use as opposed to corporate use which is the norm.

Users will get a private, fully customizable virtual environment inside their accounts that resembles their own computers forming a new-generation of personal computers called Cloud PCs.

These computers are accessible only to their owners and can be used at anytime from anywhere in the world and using any web-enabled device from laptops to tablets and even phones.

Since all of these computers are in the cloud they will be connected and users can create both personal and office networks to interact and instantly share files, communicate and collaborate on projects.

Each of the Cloud PCs will allow the user to upload up to 1 Terabyte of files which can then be used in many innovative new ways allowed by the cloud.

The chief achievement of the service however is the LIVE USE feature meaning users can normally open and use all their files in the cloud even via phone. Also worthy of note is that the Cloud PCs are designed as organized portals to the rest of the internet meaning users will be able to access other websites from the comfort and security of their own PCs.

ionacloud also added that it will be giving away 1-million free Cloud PCs to the general public as from 12 December, 2011. After this number is reached the service will be closed off to new users until a point next year (2012) at which they decide to expand the service.

  1. The cloud goes personal. Personal cloud goes to just home cloud or in-hand cloud by SelfCloud.
SelfCloud makes PCs as cloud server and also client.
