Vodacom has announced that users will be able to get the Apple iPhone 4S on 16 December, with pre-orders already taking place on their website. Vodacom will be the first South African mobile service provider to offer its users the latest iPhone.
There is still no word on how many units will enter the country or how many will be made available for pre-order, but a warning on the pre-registration page hints that not everybody might get their device on the 16th. “Completing this Pre-registration form is no guarantee that you will receive an iPhone 4S as stocks are extremely limited,” it said in the pre-registration website.
While the iPhone 4S is new to the SA market, it has already managed to sell millions in the US. “iPhone 4S is off to a great start with more than four million sold in its first weekend – the most ever for a phone and more than double the iPhone 4 launch during its first three days.
iPhone 4S is a hit with customers around the world, and together with iOS 5 and iCloud, is the best iPhone ever ,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.
