uMAX bringing 4G to Harare

Alvarion has announced that Zimbabwean wireless broadband provider uMAX has selected its 4Motion solution to the roll-out a sizeable 4G network in its capital Harare.

uMAX has commissioned Alvarion’s 4Motion solution to introduce Zimbabwe’s first 4G network for the delivery of high-speed wireless broadband services to residential and business customers in the 2.5 GHz frequency.


“Alvarion’s 4Motion allows us to deploy a technologically proven, comprehensive solution, that will directly improve customer experience and enable us to grow at a pace that suits our specific needs,” commented Russel Clinton, CEO of Dandemutande Investments.

uMAX will use Alvarion’s industry-leading 4G solution to deliver services such as VoIP, video-streaming and high-speed Internet. The deployment of Alvarion’s end-to-end 4G solution is designed to supply its residential and corporate customers with more advanced broadband services enabled through USB dongles and other indoor and outdoor Customer Premises Equipment. uMAX will be the first service provider to enable consumers and businesses access to such services in Zimbabwe.
