The inaugural IT Leaders East Africa Summit came to a close at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi on the 3rd of November. Produced by Kinetic Events and supported by the Kenya ICT Board, the summit addressed the importance of IT spending needed to grow businesses in the region.
One hundred delegates from all over East Africa descended on the Safari Park Hotel to discuss strategies which can assist companies to yield superior results and gain competitive edge over other companies. Chief Information Officers, Government officials and IT heads were present. Mr. Paul Kukubo, CEO of the Kenya ICT Board commented positively on the seniority of the attendees present during the 2 day Summit.
“The presentations were of a high standard and were relevant to contemporary issues that IT professionals face. In addition, there were significant opportunities to network and discuss issues impacting IT & Business, including discussions on trends within Information Technology.’ commented Dr. Hilangwa Maimbo, Director, Information Technology, CfC Stanbic Bank.
It was clearly established by the end of the event, how to link technology to strategic business objectives and the importance of IT spending to successfully grow a business.
Industry experts presenting during the Summit included: John Mwaniki, head of operations and technology for the Nairobi Stock Exchange who presented an interesting keynote on business intelligence within the final sector; Arnold Masaro, the head of information systems for the TTCL who moderated the Summit, presented a keynote on moving to the cloud, while discussing whether Africa should embrace this concept straight away.
