Dimension Data, the specialist global IT services and solutions provider today announces a strategic executive appointment to drive its local operations in the next phase of the company’s growth.
Duncan Pie joins Dimension Data as general manager and will be working with the outgoing managing director Keith Marais who will be relinquishing his role in January 2012. Duncan takes over as head of the organisation on the 1st of January 2012, but starts in the post on the 1st of October to ensure an effective hand-over of the business.
In his new role, he will provide strategic leadership for the commercial and operations management of the Botswana office, leadership for the local go-to-market strategy, involvement with national planning and implementation strategies, and establishing and maintaining local-based partner and vendor relationships.
Located at the Gaborone International Commerce Park, the business was established in November 1996 with twelve people and is currently staffed with over sixty fulltime employees, over eighty percent of them Botswana nationals. Initially, the business was a cabling only operation and has evolved to offer infrastructure, networking, datacentre and Microsoft solutions and services to clients spanning all sectors in the entire country.
Duncan brings a great deal of experience to his new role, having been in the IT industry for the past 14 years. He has a Bachelors Degree in Economics and Accounting from the University of Botswana and a MDP from the University of Stellenbosch business school. Duncan joins Dimension Data from Botswana Telecommunications Corporation where he was Head of Wholesale. He was previously the Business Development Manager for a Microsoft Business Solutions partner.
