Samsung has revealed that they have managed to sell over 10-million units of the Galaxy S II smartphone since its launch in April this year.
“In just five months the Galaxy S II has seen tremendous growth, reflecting strong support from carrier partners,” JK Shin, the head of the firm’s mobile device unit, said in a statement. Sales of the follow-up smartphone doubled since July, when it was sitting on only 5-million.
Samsung reaching the 10-million unit mark is in line with Shin’s estimates, as he said earlier this year that Samsung is planning to sell that amount of phones. With three months left in the year, and smartphones as popular as ever, the company is sure to add another million onto the record books.
Samsung also gave a breakdown of where the most units were sold, with South Korea selling 3.6 million units, 3.4 million in Europe and 2.3 million in rest of Asia.
