Anonymous was responsible for Sony's PSN attack

Police in Spain believe that they have arrested three members of the infamous Anonymous hacking crew, who is rumoured to be behind the hacking of PlayStation’s PSN network, as well as other systems.

Police claim that they have disrupted a small cell which is part of Anonymous, as the suspects allegedly had the resources to work as part of the hacking group. A server hosted in the Spanish city of Gijon was also seized as part of raids.

According to news reports, “investigators reckon the group is responsible for masterminding attacks on the Spain’s Central Electoral Board (la Junta Electoral Central) last month as well as Sony’s PlayStation Store. The group was also involved in attacks against government websites in Egypt, Algeria and Libya.”

The Spanish police also published pictures of IRC logs that reportedly show plans to attack the Spanish electoral board in response to a planned change in Spanish legislation that would make filesharing illegal in Spain.
