The 2011 10th Anniversary iWeek conference, a South African Internet and telecoms industry’s annual gathering, will feature international speakers from six continents.

iWeek 2011 is a free conference and most of the proceedings are open to anyone involved in the Internet industry. The event takes place at Royal Elephant, Eldoraigne, Centurion, South Africa.

The Internet Service Providers’ Association of South Africa (ISPA), which marks its 15th anniversary and UniForum SA – the administrators, have confirmed that registration is open for the conference to be held from 21 to 23 September 2011.

This year’s iWeek conference theme is  “How the Internet has changed societies”.

The speakers will provide insights into topics as diverse as the underground economy, open spectrum, challenges of scaling, social networking and e-learning.

The speakers will include Juan Du Toit from MXiT, Peter Coroneos, chief executive of the Internet Industry Association (IIA), Dr. Roger Leslie Cottrell from the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory at Stanford University, Jack Unger, president of Ask-Wi.Com and Ramy Raoof, online media officer at the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights.

Each year, iWeek attracts speakers and attendees from a broad spectrum of the most important players in South Africa’s telecommunications industry including representatives from Internet service providers, product resellers, network operators, telecom end-users, government and the ICT-focused legal fraternity.

The International Internet Industry Alliance (IIIA) and the Wireless Access Providers’ Association hold their annual meetings simultaneously.

Key sponsors for the iWeek event include MTN Business Solutions, Ad Dynamo and Vox Telecom.
