Mayank Sharma, Vice President of Comviva Africa

Comviva, a global mobile solutions and Value Added Services (VAS) provider, announced that it has 52 Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) deployments across 39 global countries.

Comviva’s portfolio of USSD solutions are enabling operators in South Asia, Middle East, Africa and Latin America to quickly launch new services by providing a Service Creation Environment (SCE) and a diverse range of market-ready USSD applications.

“We are proud to achieve this milestone and hold the leadership position in the USSD market globally. USSD technology is pervasive, the experience intuitive and interactive, and the potential operational savings compelling.”

“Today, only a small proportion of subscribers actively use non-voice services and with USSD, we can enable them to easily and conveniently discover and access an extensive catalog of mobile services,” says Vikram Shanbhag, Vice President, Mobile Messaging Solutions, Comviva.

Currently over 550 million mobile subscribers globally use services powered by Comviva’s USSD solutions. USSD enables mobile operators to reduce cost by about 38%. The current GSM mobile subscriber community is already over 5 billion.

Comviva’s USSD solutions are now delivering services to over 550 million mobile users across the globe and handling up to 130 million transactions/day on different operator networks.

Leading operators globally handling over 220 million hits daily deploy Comviva’s USSD solutions. Some South Asian operators have deployed Comviva’s USSD Self Care, which reduces the costs of customer care provision by an average of 38%.

“Comviva’s platform and features allow subscribers to interact with their favorite applications, such as social networking, banking and other subscription services,” Shanbhag.
