Starcomms, one of the leading telecommunications companies in the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) segment of the Nigerian telecom sector has announced that it has spent over US$9 million ( about N1.35billion) to improve capacity and strengthen its network in 10 cities in the West African country.
The cities include Abuja (federal capital territory) Oron, Ikot-Ekpene and Eket (Akwa-Ibom State); Jaij, (Kaduna State); Suleja (Niger State); Maiduguri (Borno State); Umuahia (Abia State); Tinapa (Cross River State) as well as Agbor (Delta State).
Chief Operating Officer at Starcomms, Logan Pather, said that the investment is in the areas of equipment and logistics, among others, and would see the company rolling out services to other parts of the country where the company previously had no coverage.
Pather said the investment would also lead to the improvement of its capacity in congested sites in areas where it currently has coverage.
He assured consumers that within the next three weeks, Starcomms would be engaging in commercial launches in all 10 cities.
He noted that “Starcomms has continued to make significant investments in the telecommunications industry, despite the difficulties that characterise the business climate in Nigeria.”
He further assured that the CDMA company would continue to strive to meet the expectations of its subscribers scattered across the country.
He said the company would continue to work towards making life easier for its subscribers.
According to Pather, the huge investment made by the company would help strengthen its market share.
He assured that the company would continue to make investments as it believes in the huge potentials of the Nigerian market
