Egyptian mobile operator Etisalat Misr was awarded “Mobile Operator of the Year” for the second consecutive time at the DG 2010 awards. It’s CEO and Managing Director Saleh Alabdooli was also given “CEO of the Year.”
According to the Khaleej Times, the DG awards “recognizes excellence and outstanding performance of companies, movies and songs through a thorough survey … carried out over the Internet.”
At a press conference announcing the award, DG Group Chairman Maged Hosny said he was not shocked that the Egyptian operator – with the parent company based in the United Arab Emirates – won the award.
He said, in published comments, that “its leading and innovative role in providing the best bundles of products and services in a market known to be one of the most competitive” was a key factor in separating it from the rest of the mobile operators.
“We are proud to receive this prestigious award and we would like to present these awards to Etisalat’s board of directors, the employees of this company and our clients who made this happen,” Alabdooli said.
