Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 is now available in South Africa, local Adobe distributor, AxizWorkgroup, has announced. The Creative Suite 5.5 product line enables designers and developers to target popular and emerging smartphone and tablet platforms.

The mobile communications revolution has changed the way content is distributed and consumed, says Bernadine Botha, business unit manager at AxizWorkgroup, and, with substantive advances to HTML5, Flash authoring, digital publishing and video tools, Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 offers an exciting solution for developers in the industry.

Creative Suite 5.5 will drive the development of new digital experiences across devices, including all major smartphones and tablets. As publishers, media companies, advertisers and enterprises transform the way they develop and distribute their content, Adobe has supported them with technology innovations such as these in content creation, management, measurement and distribution.

The new Creative Web Premium Suite contains HTML5 and Adobe Flash authoring tools that empower customers in creating, delivering and monetising rich content and applications for virtually any screen.

“This release will help enable designers and developers to deliver mobile applications on Android, BlackBerry Tablet OS, iOS and other platforms,” says Botha. “Users will also be able to create rich browser-based content across screens using HTML5 and leverage Flash Player to deliver video content, casual games and Internet applications.”

An update to Adobe Flash makes it possible to bring rich content to desktops and devices inside the browsers and Flash Player is currently supported on Android, HP webOS and Google TV with support for BlackBerry, Windows Phone, Samsung SmartTVs and others expected soon.

“Digital publishers will be pleased to see an update to Adobe’s Premium Suite, which enables the creation of digital editions for tablet devices. Using Adobe InDesign CS5.5, in combination with the integrated Folio Producer toolset, designers can now add new levels of interactivity to their page layouts targeted specifically to tablet device users.”

The new Adobe Photoshop Touch Software Development Kit (SDK) enables developers to build tablet applications that interact with Photoshop from Android, BlackBerry PlayBook and iOS devices. There are also three new iPad applications that demonstrate the creative possibilities of using tablets to drive common Photoshop workflows – Adobe Color Lava for Photoshop, Adobe Eazel for Photoshop and Adobe Nav for Photoshop.

Lastly, for video and audio professionals, Botha says Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium Suite delivers performance, workflow improvements and audio editing capabilities that build upon the customer momentum Production Premium is experiencing with broadcasters, filmmakers and video professionals worldwide.
