
Under the new partnership, Nokia Siemens Networks will optimize, modernize and manage Vodacom Tanzania’s network and operate it for the next five years.
Vodacom Tanzania Operations Managing Executive, Daniel Bakker, who has led the integration project, told reporters that as part of the network operations activities, Vodacom Tanzania employees from the network operations department will be transferred to Nokia Siemens Networks.
He noted that outsourcing is by no means a new trend, adding that Vodacom Tanzania is continuously looking into its operations to find the best and most efficient solutions to streamline its service delivery to enhance both productivity and service quality.
“Nokia Siemens Networks’ capabilities to ensure network efficiency, service quality and global best-practice-in-network operations will enable Vodacom Tanzania improve network efficiency and maintain operational performance, while freeing up resources to focus on our core business of delivering the best and most advanced technology and experience to our customers”, he said.
“Nokia Siemens Networks will take over complete responsibility for Network Management Center, Switching, Transmission, Radio Planning and Optimization and Regional Network Operations”, Mr. Bakker told reporters.
Mr. Bakker was also keen to point out that Vodacom Tanzania transferring to Nokia Siemens Networks will be exposed to both great technical and management experience and opportunities.

Nokia Siemens Networks has transferred 14,000 employees globally under various network operations outsourcing contracts.
Nokia Siemens Networks global network operations model will support Vodacom Tanzania in continuing to achieve its targets of network quality, services delivery to the customers and cost efficiency. Vodacom is Tanzania’s leading telecommunications solutions provider with a subscriber base of nine (9) million customers.
As part of Vodacom Tanzania’s and Nokia Siemens Networks green initiative Nokia Siemens Networks will deploy Hybrid Power solutions that will reduce Vodacom Tanzania’s fuel consumption on sites that are running on generator sets.
