This was confirmed by government in a press statement.
According to government and the ministry of information and communications, during the first seven months of 2010, “These investments are related to information technology services, studies and consultancy, research, transport and vocational training.
“They were centered in eastern regions of the country, amounting to 768,9 MTD, compared with only 70,4 MTD for the western regions,” the statement said.
Joint Tunisian-foreign ventures have also seen an increase of nearly 4% representing 113,9 million dinars. Government says that this increase in investment will help push Tunisia forward as a “destination for investment”.
Khalid Khalifa, a Tunisian IT expert, told Bikya Masr via telephone that by increasing overall investment, “Tunisia will be able to buttress the already solid IT infrastructure in the country as companies continue to see us as a place for relocating cheaply and with ease.”
