THE disruption experienced earlier this week by some customers using Telkom Kenya’s Orange Internet Everywhere 3G+ Internet services were caused by technical hitches experienced after the migration of a platform that supports the service, which took place over last weekend.

The migration and upgrade is aimed at improving the quality of service for all Orange wireless internet customers, integrated Telecommunications Provider Telkom Kenya has said, assuring customers that they are working flat out to rectify the disruption.

“The Orange customer care teams on helpline 121 from Orange Mobile and 0202222121 from Telkom landline or from other networks and at all Orange shops are at hand to assist with any queries customers may have regarding the service,” said Telkom Kenya’s chief executive officer, Mickael Ghossein.

“We request our customers to be patient with us while we resolve the hitches as troubleshooting of the problems requires each concern be addressed specifically as the issues currently being experienced differ from customer to customer.”

Ghossein said the Internet Everywhere 3G+ modems had so far provided optimal services to customers by providing the most reliable internet connection in comparison to other wireless modems available on the market .

“Our customers will experience the additional benefits the migration will enable once the hitches are resolved. We remain committed to ensuring that the quality of services on all Orange products remains at its best at all the times and we apologise to all our esteemed customers affected by this problem.

“We aim at restoring the 3G+ services at the earliest possible opportunity, so that our customers can continue enjoying our quality data services”.

Meanwhile, the company has uploaded 25MB free of charge to all customers with the Internet Everywhere 3G modems who use a broadband account to log in to enable them to test the service to verify that it is functioning optimally.

The Orange Internet Everywhere 3G+ services is offered on the CDMA network, through the Orange EVDO modems and enables one to access the enterprise intranet and its applications .

The Internet service is available as a postpaid, pay-as-you-go service with bundles available from 50MB for as little as Kshs 7, to the unlimited internet offer for 7 days at Kshs 990 per week.
